Ryan grew up in East Central Illinois and first started hunting when his grandfather took him squirrel hunting when he was just 7 years old. He has always had a passion for the outdoors but really caught the fever when he was 12 and killed his first deer, a 130 inch 8 point. Ryan has been an avid bow hunter obsessed with the challenge of hunting whitetails and has harvested numerous great bucks. He learned early that taking trophies was the result of a lot of knowledge of his target, diligent scouting, working the land, and little luck.
Ryan began helping his grandfather create and maintain quality food plots and manage the family's property to result in bigger bucks and better overall wildlife habitat. His experiences in the woods resulted in Ryan's intrigue with deer, their habitat, and behavior. This fascination led Ryan to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Ecology and Management.
Upon graduation he got a job as a nuisance wildlife control technician and although a challenging and exciting job, Ryan still wanted to pursue a career working with whitetails and their habitat. So when Whitetail Trophy Properties contacted Ryan with the opportunity to be an agent, he jumped all over it and started his new career. He knows that having your own property to improve and manage can be one of the most rewarding experiences in your life. Let Ryan Matzke help you change your dreams of owning property to a reality.
