Derek Grimsrud, ALC (Accredited Land Consultant) has developed a great reputation in the farm real estate business in Iowa and Missouri. Selling farm real estate since 2006, Derek understands the importance of a high level of professionalism. Derek became a broker in 2012 and received the coveted Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) designation in 2013 (see below). His knowledge and experience in farm real estate allows him to provide service to buyers and sellers that is second to none.
Derek has been working in the outdoor industry for over 15 years. After earning a bachelor’s degree from Winona State University in MN, Derek worked in management for many years with Cabela’s, which is the World’s Foremost Outfitter of sporting goods and outdoor gear. Derek then took a Regional Sales Manager position with Precision Shooting Equipment and Browning Archery. Derek handled 4 states including Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas. Travelling the Midwest for PSE allowed Derek to become familiar with these states and take advantage of some great hunting opportunities, especially for mature trophy whitetails. Although it was difficult to leave PSE, an opportunity came along to sell farm real estate in Iowa and Missouri. Derek’s sales and business experience combined with his passion for the outdoors set him up for success in farm real estate. This has proven to be the perfect career for Derek and hence he has been selling farmland since 2006.
The highlight of Derek’s hunting career came when filming a hunt for Whitetail Properties TV in 2010. Derek harvested a Boone and Crockett whitetail on film with a muzzleloader. The mega-buck officially scored 204” and netted 201” non-typical.
More importantly, the highlight of Derek’s real estate career was earning the Accredited Land Consultant designation.
