Gorgeous Appalachian Mountain Property With Cabin Sites In East Central KY

Wow! What a gorgeous Appalachian Mountain property, at a price that will not last! My fieldwork visit to this property to take photos on a crisp January morning gave way to a beautiful, clear blue sky. The only things I could hear were the breeze blowing through the treetops and my own thoughts interrupted by the occasional woodpecker in the distance seeking out his next meal as he made his rounds from tree to tree…peaceful was an understatement. It was a struggle to complete what I came to do, knowing when I was finished I had to leave, however, work was to be done and I had to move along. This secluded tract lies in the Cumberland Plateau and in some of the most beautiful and rugged terrain found anywhere in the eastern U.S. Located only 8 short miles from the nearby 1,231 acre Buckhorn Lake State Park which provides opportunities for fishing, boating, swimming and skiing. The State Park offers lodging, cottages, and dining as well. Just to the south, less than 3/4 mile is the Daniel Boone National Forest providing even more room to take your outdoor game to the next level. This remote hardwood landscape is home to everything roaming the wild Appalachian Mountains. The Owsley County/Breathitt county line splits this property with the majority in Owsley County. All kinds of wildlife including big whitetails, eastern toms and the occasional black bear, bobcat and gray fox roam these ridges. This property is literally on the doorstep of the Elk Zone counties with Breathitt County being an actual Elk Zone county. On this property are several mountain streams originating in the upper reaches of the watersheds, descending through the main valleys to the east and west providing clean, liquid life throughout. This tract is made up of a natural mix of medium-sized poplar and beech in the valleys, while the hillsides and narrow ridgetops are predominantly young hickory, ash, and various species of white and black oak. Old logging roads lead in almost every direction throughout this challenging terrain creating good hiking trails, as well as horseback riding or ATV/UTV riding. A few spots along the western portion would be suitable for a private “off-the-grid” cabin site or food plot, as well as a couple upper benches near the mid-eastern boundary. This property would be perfect for an ultra-private weekend get-away for family and friends to hunt, hike, camp, or explore and make memories. If this type of adventure sounds like what you need in your life, give me a call and let’s see if this property is the right fit for you.
