With plenty of Reconyx photos of this typical ten point, Dan Perez knew the aptly named "Photogenic" met the criteria before he ever laid the crosshairs on him. After two earlier close encounters and hunting the last day of first gun season in his home state of Illinois, Dan's Banks Blind was positioned out in the throat of an open cornfield where the timberline on each side narrowed. Photogenic walked across the edge of the far timberline to the south without providing a shot, but when he turned to enter the timber, he hesitated just long enough for the hammer of the T/C to roar. A clean 204-yard poke with a Barnes bullet left only a 10-yard blood trail to this 156" stud.

Owen Reigler had 4 years of history with this Split G-2 buck placing him in the 120" range for a 2 year old and jumping up to a 160" class at three. This season was interrupted with Owen's daughter, Paige being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and becoming ill during the Christmas holidays. Paige wanting to go hunting with her Dad in the worst way but not feeling up to it encouraged him to strike out one afternoon on his own. Everything came together that afternoon in Iowa with a T/C hammer dropping this 196 5/8” monster in his tracks. The joy was elevated when Owen arrived home to share the Split G-2 with Paige.

The owner of the JHA Ranch in Live Oak County, Texas had given the green light on this mature brute to Joey Bellington. Placing Reconyx cameras out the week before the hunt, Joey was able to capture and record the routine of this 6 year old buck. Hunting out of an elevated box blind, Joey could see down 3 different senderos. Watching plenty of deer feed in the lanes and with only minutes left of filming light, this South Texas whitetail with dark antlers stepped out at 60 yards. Taking his time to study the characteristics to make sure he was the buck of choice, Joey dropped the hammer on a .308 and after a 45 minute trailing, had his hands on a classic 151 4/8" 10pt.

Blake Farrar hunting along with his friend and fellow land specialist Joey Bellington at the JHA Ranch in Texas was tapped to harvest a management buck named “Ocho." Hunting out of a tower blind overlooking two senderos and along side a creek bed. With about 30 minutes of light left, Ocho came out of the creek bottom and stepped into one of the senderos and started working his way toward the blind. At 100 yards Blake fires a .308 and was able to recover this 124" South Texas management buck.

Paul Sawyer tagged along with Joey and Blake at the JHA Ranch hunt and was given the green light on a South Texas management buck to bring home to Illinois. Again in the classic South Texas style, set up in a box blind looking down long senderos, Paul caught this 9 pointer licking a branch at 200 yards. Checking him through his Brunton optics to make sure it was the target buck, Paul served him a Winchester sandwich for breakfast. Dropping five yards from impact, Paul had a 133” bruiser headed back to Pike County.
