Matt Powell

Born and raised in Adams, Tennessee, I was immersed in a hardworking family tradition of farming tobacco and logging timber. From an early age, my father instilled in me the values of dedication, integrity, and giving back—principles that continue to guide both my professional career and my commitment to mentoring youth in the outdoors.

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Tennessee, which led to a career in environmental consulting and public forestry work. For over a decade, I specialized in right-of-way management, working alongside local electric utilities before transitioning into the private sector to establish my own land-clearing and forestry business.

With more than 25 years of hands-on experience operating heavy equipment, I have successfully led projects from initial concept through completion. My expertise includes land clearing, pond construction, culvert installation, roadway development, forestry mulching, and prescribed burns. I also specialize in custom hunting property development, including food plot agriculture and design, timber stand improvement, and stand locations. I focus on total ecosystem development that benefits all species on the landscape including non-target game species.

As a Tennessee Master Logger, I bring in-depth knowledge of timber markets and value, assisting clients with the buying and selling of standing timber in both domestic and export markets, with a primary focus on hardwoods. My background allows me to provide strategic guidance on timber value, land use, and long-term property management.

An avid outdoorsman, I have been hunting whitetail deer for over 37 years, exclusively archery for the past 25 years. I have since taken 30 Pope & Young whitetails along with 3 making the Boone & Crockett book.

I am deeply committed to giving back to the hunting and outdoor community through active involvement with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, assisting and mentoring youth hunters, and hosting private youth hunts through the Tennessee Wildlife Commission.

Now, as I enter the real estate industry, I leverage a lifetime of experience in farming, forestry, and land management to help clients confidently buy and sell rural, recreational, and investment properties. My goal is to ensure every client finds not just land—but a property that fits their vision, lifestyle, and legacy.
