Description
This property is located within Game Management Unit 12, which is known for its trophy elk hunting and is eligible to participate in New Mexico Game and Fish’s elk landowner system (EPLUS). Elk, mule deer, pronghorn and other wildlife utilize this property. Private land mule deer and pronghorn licenses are currently unlimited and sold over the counter, so a landowner can allow as many hunters as they choose to meet their management objectives. Trail camera photos have documented many elk to include several trophy-sized bull elk. The ranch provides good forage and water availability for maintaining elk, mule deer and pronghorn use on the property. The terrain consists of gentle topography with open meadows of native grasses, pinyon and juniper trees. Two newly built dirt tanks have had heavy elk usage and provide a key habitat component that has attracted more big game to the property. Two redneck blinds have been installed at each of the dirt tanks. Feeding troughs are placed in strategic locations on the property. A new 685-foot well, operated by solar or generator and has a 5,000-gallon storage tank. Water is piped to a travel trailer and is controlled by a hydrant, which is a big plus for a remote property. A water trailer with a holding capacity of 1000 gallons of water can be used to provide water to the numerous drinking troughs throughout the property. The perimeter of the property is fenced on three sides with new barbed-wire fencing and has three entrance gates. Road access is off Highway 117.
