William “Bill” Chilman is a lifelong resident of North Central Michigan and a Land Specialist with Whitetail Properties. Bill combines deep community roots with hands-on land management experience to assist clients in buying and selling agricultural, recreational, and rural residential properties across the region.
North Central Michigan features a diverse landscape, including productive row-crop farms, agritourism spots, timber tracts, hunting lands, and waterfront parcels. With many lakes, rivers, and streams, the region offers some of Michigan’s most sought-after recreational land. Bill enjoys helping clients find properties that match their lifestyle and long-term goals.
An avid outdoorsman, Bill spends time pursuing Michigan whitetails and spring turkeys with his bow in hand. His passion for the land goes beyond hunting, as he actively participates in land stewardship, habitat improvement, and property management practices that boost wildlife and increase land value over the long term. This hands-on experience helps him recognize the true potential of a piece of land and share that knowledge with his clients.
Bill is passionate about helping landowners understand the full potential of their property and guiding them through the process of maximizing its value. He understands that selling land requires more than simply listing acreage. He focuses on showcasing each property’s unique character through detailed property analysis, strategic marketing, and compelling presentation to reach qualified buyers nationwide.
Bill understands that land is more than just real estate. He recognizes it is often a legacy asset reflecting years of stewardship, hard work, and family history. The deep connection many landowners have with their parcels is not only a meaningful investment but also something they hope to pass down through generations.
In addition to his land expertise, Bill has a strong professional background as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). His experience in accounting and finance enables him to offer clients valuable insights into land as an investment, including tax considerations, financial planning, and long-term wealth-building through land ownership.
Bill earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Central Michigan University, with majors in economics and accounting.
Outside of work, Bill enjoys spending time with his wife, Alexandria, their son, Will, and their golden retriever, Macy. When he isn’t with his family, in the woods, or on one of Michigan’s many lakes or streams, you can often find him on the hardwood floor coaching high school basketball.
