It’s been remodeled, bar included, using wood salvaged from past remnants on the ranch, such as corrals, cake-houses, etc. It gives the cabin a unique ambiance and adds an enhancement to the property straight out of the Old West. There’s some recorded historical relevance to the cabin dating back into the 1800s. Near the entrance is a historical marker that includes those details.
About the Land itself; Just outside the back door of the Lodge is Lake Kiowa. It’s a 14-acre reservoir, served by Spring-fed Boggy Creek, stocked with largemouth bass and channel catfish. The lake is water-table sustained and remains full. Accenting the entire property, are beautiful hardwoods including Chinaberry, Oak, Elm, and Locust. There are also towering Cottonwoods, some have to be 150 years old. For many decades Rio Grande gobblers have used them to roost. And just like decades ago, they still fly down and strut in the yard.
Within walking distance of the Lodge is Lake Marvin. It’s a 63-acre lake within Black Kettle National Grasslands, consisting of 576 Acres. This is a No-Hunting zone and serves as a wildlife refuge that borders the Lodge-acreage.
The combination of this refuge, along with the well-managed ranches bordering the property, has resulted in some 200”+ whitetails being harvested in this specific area. It’s a deer hunter’s paradise.
Last but not least, the property hasn’t forgotten about the Waterfowl hunters. The potential for top-end duck and goose hunting is here. Just west of the Lodge are some warm-water sloughs along Boggy Creek that holds water year-round. These serve as great Waterfowl impoundments and hold a wide variety of ducks and geese. With some moderate improvements, the waterfowl hunting could resemble a duck club straight out of Stuttgart Arkansas. The property is a must-see.
