Description
It doesn’t get any more secluded and private than this log cabin back in the hill country of West Virginia. Right in the heart of this tract of hardwoods and next to a private pond, you have all the comfort and security you need for an escape from society. If you’re a prepper, this is a dream come true! One of the nicest features is the location at the end of a dead-end county road with a gated entryway. The access is mostly graveled with some portions of dirt road – but it is mostly level and easily navigable. The cabin was built well and provides all the comforts needed to enjoy the ruggedness of the outdoors with plenty of amenities to retreat to. Even with its remote location, it still has electric, private water, septic, and natural gas. There is a double-decker wrap-around porch with entrances from both the bottom and top levels. The cabin is two stories with a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and utility room on the bottom and a bedroom loft up above. The loft has an overlook into the living room and access to the second story of the porch. Much of the interior and exterior were redone in 2012/2013 and has only been lightly used since. The back yard is fenced in and has a picnic table. It was regraded to drain water away from the cabin. The living area and second floor bedroom is all horizontal cedar sided, while the kitchen and bathroom are drywalled. There is a gas furnace on the first floor for heat as well as a ventless wood stove adding rustic ambiance to the cabin life. The hot water tank is a tankless system to save on space and provide efficiency. The electric was replaced in 2012 and upgraded to a 150 amp service. The log cabin was designed elegantly and constructed well. It needs some clean-up and touch-up work, but overall, is very usable and in good condition. It is being sold “as-is.” The owner disclosed that there is an uneven spot in the kitchen floor and recommends a structural inspection of the foundation to ensure that reinforcements or repairs are not needed following some post-construction subsidence. Vehicles with 4WD are recommended for showings. The property has not been logged in quite some time and there are a few mature oak stands. Other varieties of trees include poplar, maple, locust, black cherry, and walnut. Most of the acreage is timber with a stream that runs down the center next to the road. Access throughout the property for hunting is excellent because of the shallow oil and gas well roads. Mineral rights are not included. If you are interested in this great hunting property, give the listing agent a call. Mineral rights are not included.
