Description
Every whitetail hunter's dream is to raise and hold deer on their farm and never have a reason for them to leave. In most cases in Illinois, this isn't possible due to the amount of land it takes to keep them "home." Any serious whitetail hunter will agree that deer need food, cover, and water to mature fully. The habitat diversity on this farm is second to none I've ever been on. It's been strictly managed for the last 18 years, and only a couple of bucks have been shot in the previous 2-3 years. The owners take great pride in getting their bucks to reach their full potential. Several Boone and Crockett bucks have been taken off this farm. There are many acres of warm-season grasses and thick brush for deer to bed and turkeys to nest in. Several farm areas are your typical big timber woods with Oaks, Hickory, and other nut-bearing trees. This farm offers many locations to plant food plots, ranging from ½ acre to 10 acres, with diverse habitats around them. The farm also has multiple water control structures, providing roosting and feeding areas for ducks and geese. Main travel corridors on the farm include the Embarras River, Dead River "old Embarras," and Brushy Creek. A powerline and gas line also run through the property, allowing excellent access and travel. The main farm is over 2 miles long, north to south, with over 15 miles of established mowed trails for easy, quiet access. The west side of the farm is accessed off 1050E, and the east side is accessed off 1350N, along with a few other easement locations. The farm offers multiple locations not included in the WRP, allowing for building locations for a cabin or shed to store equipment. The main farm, "Brushy Creek, "is so large and diverse that the possibilities are endless.
North of the largest farm sits a smaller acreage parcel. The majority of this land is not enrolled in the WRP. Thus making this smaller farm not only another hunting option but also a possible building site. Some utilities are visibly present in this parcel's area, which would likely make a building very feasible.
